A locksmith in Newcastle was urgently needed for changing locks in this property near Blaydon. The tenants had been evicted very recently, but unfortunately kept copies of the keys, getting them uncompromised access to this property.
The private landlord called me in the morning to meet her and get a front and back door lock replacement sorted. Unfortunately, she did not have a key for the back wooden door, which was secured with a mortice lock.
Mortice locks usually mean drilling for most locksmiths in Newcastle. Not many learn to pick them or manipulate them, as they require more skill than upvc door locks. Fortunately, I do have the skill and tools to deal with such locks, so I did open this back door non-destructively.
Once that was out of the way, both front and back door locks were replaced, with a lock upgrade at the front door, going from a standard lock into an anti-snap lock, which helps reduce forced entry success rates. Keys were then handed to the landlord, completing the job. She even left us a nice review!
