My back door was jammed, couldn't even opened it. Two technicians visited, none done the job . Randomly ringed you for last attempt before changing the full door. And it's fixed finally. 3 hrs of work fixed my door. Will be returning customer for sure. Cheers
North Shields Homes and Common Lock Faults
Lock faults common to North Shields NE29 and NE30 housing
North Shields has a broad mix of housing stock. The older terraced streets in and around the town centre - many of them Victorian and Edwardian builds - sit alongside the newer composite and UPVC-door developments at Royal Quays and the waterfront. That mix means I see a wide range of lock faults across NE29 and NE30, and I work on all of them.
Anti-Snap Euro Cylinders
Anti-snap cylinders are the standard I install on any front door in North Shields - the sensible baseline for both older terraced properties and newer builds, and what most home insurers now expect. If your existing anti-snap cylinder is worn, sticking or a basic type that snaps under force, it's worth changing. I'll talk through the options before I start so you know what fits the door and what your insurer requires.
Multipoint Mechanism Repairs
The multipoint mechanism running up the edge of a UPVC or composite door accounts for a large share of the lock faults I see on Royal Quays and the newer North Shields developments. The usual sign is a front door handle that won't lift to throw the bolts, or a door that won't lock even though the key still turns. The cylinder is normally fine - it's the gearbox inside the mechanism that has worn out. I can replace just the gearbox or the whole mechanism without taking the door off, and I'll give you the price when you call.
